Led by Nathan Layher's 39, Buchanan finished third Tuesday at the Bridgman jamboree in its final tune-up before the Lakeland Conference championship.
Brandywine came in eighth place in the meet that Coloma won. The Bobcats' top golfer was Justin Ely, who shot a 37, just one stroke off the pace of medalist James Bradshaw of Coloma.
For Buchanan, Matt Adams shot a 41 and Andrew Colip and Brain Lembke shot 42s. Jeremy Bachman shot a 44 and Scott Lolmaugh shot a 48 for the Bucks. Their team total of 164 was only three behind Coloma's 161 and one behind second-place Bridgman's 163.
Cody Miller and Chris Rose were next for Brandywine, shooting 44s, followed by Joe Sobieralski and Billy McDonald with 48s and Jesse Daniels with 53.
With the victory, Coloma increased its conference lead to eight points. The Comets have 52 points, while second-place Edwardsburg has 44. Buchanan is in third with 35 points, and Brandywine is in seventh with 18.
Layher's performance came one day after he was co-medalist at the River Valley jamboree on Monday. He and Berrien Springs' Fred Born tied for first place at the meet by shooting 38s.
The Bucks didn't fare as well at River Valley, however, finishing sixth. Colip shot 48 for Buchanan followed by Lolmaugh with a 51, Adams with a 53 and Bachman and Lembke with 55s.
Brandywine took seventh Monday, led by Ely's 44. Miller and Sobieralski were next for the Bobcats with 49s, followed by Rose with a 51, Daniels with a 57 and McDonald with a 58.
Berrien Springs won the River Valley jamboree with a total of 170, nine strokes better than its closest challenger, Edwardsburg.
The 18-hole Lakeland Conference championship meet will be held Friday at Brookwood Golf Course, Buchanan's home course.
