Niles man dies from motorcycle crash injuries

NILES - Jesse Lee Kelems IV, 26, of Niles died Saturday after his motorcycle struck a utility pole in Niles Township.
According to the Michigan State Police Post, at 5:33 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, Kelems was westbound on Bell Road on a Honda motorcycle traveling at a very high rate of speed. He failed to stop at 17th Street.
The motorcycle traveled off the west side of the road at the T intersection striking a utility pole, causing Kelems to be thrown from the motorcycle.
He was transported from the scene to Lakeland Hospital in Niles by SMCAS Ambulance.
He was later transferred to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., where he was treated. However he died from his injuries.
Michigan State Police Niles was assisted by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department Niles City Police and SMCAS Ambulance of Niles.
The accident remains under investigation.
