Nancy Butler of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Specialists will be the campaign chair for an unprecedented third time. The fund raising goal this year has been set at $280,000 - nearly 10 percent above the $255,000 amount pledged last year.
To launch the campaign the United Way will be a co-sponsor of the Four Flags Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event at the Fisher Building 306 E. Main Street in Niles on Wednesday, September 15th from 5 to 7 p.m.
Also, a Charity Golf Scramble and cookout is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21st at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course, Eau Claire. Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Golf spots are still available for $60 which includes the Hamburger/ Bratwurst cookout following golf. Call the United Way for reservations. Hole sponsorships are also available for $60.
Executive director John Stauffer announced that "To stimulate new giving this year the Plym and Hunter Foundations have pledged to match new donations of equal to or more than $1,000 from any individual or corporation and its employees. This is a terrific incentive for new donors and companies to participate and have the impact of their contributions doubled by the matching money from the foundations."
Last year more than 11,000 people in the Niles area were served by partner agencies of the United Way of Greater Niles. This year the Board of Directors has approved funding for 18 different charitable agencies.
