Braves, Red Sox survive playoffs

After a week of Major League playoff play in the F.O.P. Little League, the Braves and Red Sox are the only two teams left in the hunt for the 2004 title.
The championship game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
The league will also hold its annual awards ceremony following the game.
White Sox….15
Marlins……….0
David Gardner hit back-to-back home runs and a double to pace the White Sox at the plate. Jacob Whittaker added a double and two singles while Mike Briggs hit a double and a single. Erik Jones doubled once. Sean Smith and Nick Lucero each hit a single.
Tyler Garner led the Marlins with a double.
Red Sox….12
Orioles…….1
DeShaun Curtis hit two triples and Aaron Davis added a pair of singles to lead the Red Sox offensively.
Corey Horein paced the Orioles with a triple and Seth Purucker added a single.
Yankees….9
Pirates……5
Chad Weimuth led the Yankees with an in-the-park home run. Aaron Grooms added a double and two singles while Shawn Dudka hit a double. Rashad Harris, Daimon Cavinder and Jesse Price each singled.
Prescott Smith led the Pirates at the plate with two singles. Les Holt, Shane Pompey, Mitch Peterek and Nick Schrader each hit a single.
Evan Zimmerman went the distance on the mound for the Yankees.

Aaron Davis led the Red Sox with a solo homer and a double.
The victory landed the Red Sox, which started the game with only eight players, in Friday night's championship game.

White Sox….0
Cameron Sly earned the victory on the mound for the Braves and landed his team in Friday's championship game.
David Gardner took the loss with relief help from Justin Hughes.
