Cassopolis' Jealyn Foston has been selected to participate in Sports Fest 2004.
Niles' Ashley Spriggs and Brandie Radde and Buchanan's Ashlee Layher and Ali Bender will also participate in the basketball portion of Sports Fest 2004.
Those four will join other southwest Michigan basketball players to take on three teams from Indiana in Sports Fest, an area all-star event which will be held June 22-25 at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind. All teams were chosen by a coaches' vote.
Opening ceremonies for Sports Fest will be held June 20 at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
The Michigan All-Stars will face the Indiana Metro All-Stars on Tuesday, June 23. The other semifinal will feature Indiana East All-Stars against the Indiana West All-Stars. The championship game will be Friday, June 25, at 6 p.m.
Because underclassmen are not allowed to participate in all-star events, Radde, a sophomore, will not play in the games.
Joining Spriggs, Layher and Bender on the Michigan squad, which will be coached by Bridgman's Mike Miller, are Brooke Baechler of White Pigeon, Balie Maak of Marcellus, Myra Lacy of White Pigeon, Jill Mummaw of Lakeshore, Noelle Dryden of River Valley, Danielle Fields of Three Rivers and Jami Grandholm of River Valley.
Also on the squad are underclassmen Heather Seyfred of Bridgman and Jacque Rogers of Eau Claire.
The Fun Fest will also include all-star games in girls basketball, volleyball, boys and girls soccer, softball and baseball.
The all-star teams for the other sports have yet to be announced.
