The Niles varsity tennis team swept the doubles matches and one all but one singles match in knocking off visiting Dowagiac Monday afternoon in the Big 16 Conference West Division opener for both schools.
The Vikings dropped just 11 games in sweeping the doubles matches against the Chieftains.
Dowagiac's lone victory came at No. 2 singles where Jon Comstock edged Colin Smith, 6-3 and 7-5, in the most competitive match of the day.
Dowagiac (1-3, 0-1) will return to action on Wednesday when it travels to Stevensville to face Lakeshore.
Niles' next action will be Wednesday in another West Division match at St. Joseph followed by a non-conference match Friday at Parchment.
