CASSOPOLIS -- Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that deputies from his office arrested four individuals allegedly involved in stealing anhydrous ammonia and possession of methamphetamine lab components.
At approximately 3 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, sheriff's deputies on patrol in the Village of Marcellus came across a vehicle sitting in a private business parking lot, with one lone male occupant.
Upon checking out the individual, evidence was found in the vehicle that led officers to believe that the individual was in the process of attempting to steal anhydrous ammonia -- a key ingredient in the manufacture of methamphetamine -- from the local farmers co-op.
Upon further investigation, three other individuals were found in the area who were also charged with the attempted theft.
Investigators from the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team were called to assist in investigating the crime as well as to assist in disposition of the components found in the vehicle.
All four individuals were lodged in the Cass County Jail to await arraignment.
