McGowen signs with Lake Michigan

Brandywine High School senior Nicki McGowen signed a letter of intent Tuesday afternoon to continue her softball and academic careers at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor.
Lake Michigan coach Melissa Grau met with McGowen, her parents and Brandywine softball coach Jim Myers to sign the paperwork.
Practice started Monday for the upcoming 2004 softball season. McGowen will be entering her fourth season as the Bobcats' ace pitcher.
During her three years as a member of the Brandywine varsity softball team, McGowen has compiled a pitching record of 97 wins against only 14 losses. She owns a high school career ERA of .55.
McGowen helped Brandywine win the Division 3 State Championship in 2001 and reach the championship game again in 2003.
As a freshman, McGowen was named All-State Honorable Mention as well as All-Conference, All-District and All-Region. Her record was 29-4 with an ERA of .81.
As a sophomore, McGowen earned All-State First Team status along with All-Conference, All-District and All-Region. Her pitching record was 33-5 with an ERA of .4.
McGowen again earned All-State First Team honors as a senior, along with All-Conference, All-District and All-Region. Her record was 35-5 with an ERA of .39.
