Third-quarter run lifts Lady Vikes

A 14-0 run midway through the third quarter gave the Niles basketball team a comfortable advantage in its 53-38 victory at Sturgis Tuesday night.
Niles led 22-13 at halftime before outscoring the Trojans 22-13 in the third period.
The Vikings, now 11-2 on the year, got 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals from Brandie Radde. Amber Peters added six points, five rebounds, six steals and eight assists.
Courtney Miller led all scorers with 26 points as the Trojans slipped to 6-6.
The Niles freshmen basketball team improved to 4-9 on the season with a 55-15 victory over Sturgis. Shalayla Thompson led the Vikings with 11 points and Alex Ranft added 10.
Niles hosts Marshall next Tuesday.
