Edwardsburg edges Niles in non-conference soccer

Edwardsburg's first-half goal was enough to hand Niles its 10th loss of the season Thursday evening in non-conference soccer action.
Ryan Warner scored an unassisted goal following Cory Coquillard's save in the 17th minute of the first half.
Edwardsburg improved to 9-3-1 while the Vikings dropped to 3-10-1.
The Eddies outshot Niles 16-7 and Coquillard had six saves for Niles before receiving a yellow card with five minutes to go in the game. Mat Peters replaced Coquillard and came up with two saves.
Niles takes on Kalamazoo Central Tuesday in the first round of the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference Tournament. Niles is the No. 10 seed.
Buchanan shuts out Michigan Lutheran
The Buchanan varsity soccer team improved to 9-5-3 on the season with a 3-0 non-conference victory over Michigan Lutheran Thursday evening.
Doug Summers scored off an assist from Chris Cecco for the only goal in the first half.
Cecco then scored an unassisted goal in the 58th minute before Summers assisted a goal by Matt Ganus in the 63rd minute.
Buchanan outshot the Titans 13-6. Bucks goalkeeper Josh Wahlstrom had six saves.
Buchanan returns to action Monday at home against Brandywine for a Lakeland Conference match at 7 p.m.
