Lady Rangers fall to Chieftains

CASSOPOLIS -- The Dowagiac varsity tennis team picked up its first victory of the season as it survived soaring temperatures and the host Cassopolis Rangers.
Dowagiac (1-2) lost just one game in its three singles matches against the Lady Rangers. Cassopolis forfeited at No. 4 singles.
Lisa Rubino defeated Sara Kwast, 6-1 and 6-0, while Barbara Laing defeated Cally Hass, 6-0 and 6-0. Ashley Urbanski defeated Erin King, 6-0 and 6-0.
Cassopolis forfeited at No. 3 and No. 4 doubles on Monday.
Dowagiac's Kristine Swisher and Heather Scanlon defeated Brittany Polmateer and Jennifer Goins, 6-1 and 6-0, at No. 1 doubles, while Tiffany Harris and Amelia First defeated Amanda Bartels and Ashli Hickman, 6-1 and 6-0.

The Lady Rangers were blanked in their season opener against visiting Eau Claire, 8-0, in non-conference action.
