Dowagiac JV baseball team blanked by St. Joe

The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team squeezed in one game Wednesday afternoon with visiting St. Joseph before a thunderstorm canceled the second contest.
Dowagiac was blanked by the visiting Bears, 13-0.
The loss was only the second of the season for the Chieftains who are now 15-2.
St. Joseph scored two runs in the second, five in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth to account for its scoring.
St. Joe's Jared Knuth tossed a no-hitter.
Scott Wilkinson took the loss for the Chieftains, his first of the season against five wins.
JoAngel Goins pitched the fifth for Dowagiac.
The Chieftains return to action today as they travel to Niles to take on the Niles Vikings.
The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Booster meeting May 12
The Dowagiac Athletic Boosters will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, May 12 at 8 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Dowagiac Athletic Department building and is open to the public.
Saxton wins 400 hurdles
Former Dowagiac standout April Saxton and the Western Michigan University womens' track team competed against Marquette and DePaul universities on Saturday.
Saxton captured the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.
The Lady Broncos are back in action on Saturday at the University of Michigan. The following weekend will be the Mid-American Conference Championships.
