Chiefs take second

The Dowagiac boys' track team finished second at the Paw Paw Invitational on Saturday.
Vicksburg won the overall title with 135.5 points. Dowagiac was second with 105 and Allegan third with 93.
Justin Bennett, J.J. White and Devon Jackson were all double winners on Saturday as individuals.
Bennett swept the shot put and the discus with tosses of 42-6.5 and 128-7 respectively.
White won the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with times of 15.7 and 41.6.
Jackson captured the 100- and 200-meters with times of 11.1 and 23.6.
Jackson and White were also a part of Dowagiac's winning 400-meter relay team which was clocked at 46.2.
Also on the squad were Elijah Caldwell and Travis Myrkle.
White was also second in the long jump with a leap of 19-7. Kyle Bennett took second in the pole vault with a height of 10-feet. Brandon Watkins finished second in the discus with a throw of 127-4.
Finishing fourth were Kyle Bennett in the 110-meter high hurdles, while Watkins was fifth in the shot put and Jamaal Wade fifth in the high jump. Dowagiac's 800-meter relay team of Kyle Bennett, Myrkle, Caldwell and Jackson were fourth.
Dowagiac was sixth in the girl's meet won by Vicksburg with 122 points.
Sabrina Demerly was the lone champion for Dowagiac as she won the discus with a toss of 122. Demerly was also fourth in the shot put with a toss of 28-10.
Amanda VanHusan was fifth in both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs.
Dowagiac will run at Benton Harbor on Tuesday.
