Dowagiac City Council Monday night extended its $24,700 agreement with economic development consultant Cynthia LaGrow of Coloma through March 2014.
The amount of the base contract remains the same, plus it contains incentives for successful grant writing ($150), tax abatement processing for new equipment ($25), brownfield plan approvals ($50) and filing environmental review materials ($100).
The contract focused on industrial development also retains a provision to reimburse up to $300 of costs to attain or renew professional licenses and certifications.
“The price for the contract remains the same,” City Manager Kevin Anderson said. “Cindy has been with us a number of years and has done a real good job of helping us attract businesses and has proven a good resource for grant writing.”

It is upsetting that local goverments have to rely on Federal Grant monies to help them survive.. They do not realize that the Federal Goverment has no money yet they continue to put in for said grants knowing that they are helping bankrupt the Federal Goverment. How much difference is it to accept federal grants than a person in need to take public assistance.. When will local goverments learn to live on what they receive on tax revenues. It appears that local officles are the same as the federal.. It is preserving there jobs at the cost of the people… When will this all come to and end?
