Doris Margaret (Connors) Hemphill, 87, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center.
Doris was born September 18, 1925 to the late Raymond and Mary (Gleeson) Connors in Hubbell, Mich.
At a ceremony in Tijuana, Mexico on May 27, 1944 Doris married the love of her life, Clayton Hemphill while stationed in San Diego, Cali.
Doris was a woman who deeply loved her entire family and was devoted to each of them and piecing together her family history. She also enjoyed taking walks and spending time working in her yard. Doris was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
Preceding Doris are her parents, her husband Clayton, her son Carl Hemphill, her brothers John and William Connors, and her four sisters; Constance Leinonen, Anna Delf, Ruth Wisler, and Beverly Wruck.
Doris is survived by her two sons Patrick Hemphill and Curt (Gretchen Langschwager) Hemphill all of Niles and her daughter Mary (David) Smith of Niles, her three grandchildren; Brent Hemphill, Darren (Kate) Smith all of Niles and Tamara (Douglas) Bagarus of Mishawaka, Ind., three great-grandchildren; Landon, Rylin and Holly also of Mishawaka, a brother Raymond (Evelyn) Connors, her three sisters; Catherine Payne, Mary Lou (Donald) Hunt, and Judy (Dick) Parker and a sister-in-law Christine Connors all of Niles.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 from 5 until 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Niles with an interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
