The Dowagiac football team has earned honorable mention Academic All-State honors from the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.

Dowagiac was one of just 11 teams that earned that honor in Division 4.

Division 2 had the largest number of schools to receive the honor with 23.

The top four teams in each division receive a plaque honoring their achievements.

Divisions are based on enrollment statistics provided by the nominating coaches.

Dowagiac finished with a team GPA of 3.680. The Chieftains were one of three Wolverine Conference teams that earned the honor.

Allendale was the top school with a GPA of 3.900. Otsego and Three Rivers were second and third with GPAs of 3.840 and 3.818 respectively.
