Agnes Belcher, 92, of Niles, died at 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at West Woods of Niles.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1920, in Deer Lodge, Tenn., to Frank and Annie (Zukoczewski) Sadowitz. She raised her family in Dowagiac and came to Niles in the 1970s.
Agnes was employed as an area Real Estate agent. She was a member of Saint Mary
Catholic Church in Niles and the American Legion Post #26 Auxiliary in Niles. She loved cooking, especially Polish fare, and enjoyed going to yard sales.
On Feb. 14, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Raymond Belcher, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1960. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen A. Belcher and siblings, Franklin and Blanchard “B.J.” Belcher and Julia Nowak.
Surviving family includes sons, Orrin (and Anita) Belcher, of Niles, and Raymond (and Becky) Belcher of Warsaw, Ind.; grandchildren Matthew (and Cindi) Belcher, Jeremy (and Rhonda) Belcher, Michelle English, Jimmy (and Christy) English, Stephanie (and Ben) Schroeder, Kristen Mosely, Jamie Belcher, Lindsay Belcher and Nathan Belcher; great-grandchildren Truen, Marissa, Jedrek, Ezra, Elise, Christopher, Andrew, Kendall, Kipton, Nevaeh, Dillan, Skyler, Claudia and Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Agnes Belcher will be at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with
the Rev. Daniel Miller of First Missionary Church in Niles officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Agnes may be made to the Patient Activity Fund at West
Woods of Niles or to First Missionary Church of Niles.
