James Bruce Lukkarila, 69, of Dowagiac, passed away at his home Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.
Bruce’s life began Oct. 18, 1942, in Cincinnati, the son of Hugo and Eleanor Lukkarila.
He had been employed by Michiana Cablevision Corporation.
He had owned a restaurant in Elkhart and after it had closed, he worked for UTI and did websites until his illness. Bruce enjoyed tinkering with electronics, photography, fishing and he was a strong advocate of the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed woodworking.
His loving family includes his children, Ken (Joey) Lukkarila of Wakarusa, Ind., Darrell “Scott” (Karen) Lukkarila of Buchanan; his children’s mother, Sue Lukkarila of Buchanan; grandchildren, Erik, Kristi, Austin, Devon, McKayla, Kaitlyn and Jared; and sisters, Sandy (Eric) Walstrom of Newport News, Va., and Sue (Jim) Carroll of Westfield, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Bruce’s request, there will no funeral services.
