Gordon Lee Archer, 55, of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at The Timbers Nursing Home in Dowagiac with his family by his side.

Gordon Lee Archer was born Dec. 26, 1956, in Dowagiac to Leslie and Vera (Nothdruft) Archer.

After graduating high school, he continued his education by getting an associate degree. Gordon worked for Ameriwood Furniture and Manufacturing for 29 years.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Gordon is survived by his mother; three sisters, Beverly Joy Ackles of Buchanan, Barbara JoAnn Lenex of Arkansas, Patricia Marie Cornog of Missouri; three nieces, Christen Ackles, Janet Huggins and Jackie (Guy) Evans; nephew, Jerry Lenex; grand-nieces and nephews, Colten Evans, Aaron Talley, Crystal (Corey) Lozada, Leslie (Wes) Collins, Holi Lenex, RC Lenex and Callie Mejia; great-grand-nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn and Hannah Forkner, Cameron and Jordan Lozada; and a special friend of many years, Shiela Crosby.

He enjoyed playing a casual game of golf, riding motorcycles, University of Michigan football, but most of all — he loved spending precious time with his family.

In keeping with Gordon’s wishes his body will be donated to further research and science at MedCure in Portland, Ore.

The family will be holding a memorial service on a later date.
