Berrybrook editorial premature
Published 10:45pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012To the editor:
I take exception to your editorial of Aug. 30, 2012, Berrybrook should know better. It was very premature.
I have known Joe Hassle for more than 50 years. I know him as a person who farms more than 5,000 acres and employs more than 200 people.
As a business and community leader, Joe is an asset to Dowagiac.
As the head of a major operation, it is necessary to delegate many aspects of the operations.
It’s very possible that migrant housing may have been delegated.
We don’t know the answer to many of the allegations that you raised in your editorial.
I know Berrybrook, Joe and Harriet Hassle make every effort to offer safe, clean and humane working conditions for all of their workers.
Your negative comments should wait until all questions have been addressed and the facts are known before condemning Berrybrook Farms prematurely.

Thank – You Mr. Sarabyn,, Well Said,,, People love to kick a person when they are down.. if you have nothing nice to SAY (OR have no clue what your talkng about) Say nothing at all… Shame on you Dowagaic Daily News.
we know Mr. Hassle and we were sorry to. See his troubles with his workers from the south. He let us dig all the potatoes we wanted for free after his harvest. You couldn’t, ask for a better citizen and employer. In. Our failing economy. God. Bless our national and Mr. Hassle.
