Kari Kay Williams, 37, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Aug. 1, 2012, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, unexpectedly.
She was born Dec. 20, 1974, in Elkhart to Patricia E. Bradley and Keith Williams.
Kari grew up in the Michiana area and had a determination to excel in her life. She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master’s degree in Sociology.
She was employed as a caseworker for the South Bend Department of Child Services.
Surviving Kari is a daughter, Chante Williams, of Edwardsburg; Kari’s mother, Patricia E. Bradley, of Edwardsburg. Also surviving is her father, Keith Williams of LaPorte, Ind. She has brothers, Ryan (Jennifer) Strong of St. Louis, Mo., and Eric (Chery) Williams of Elkhart, Ind. She has a paternal grandmother, Marjorie Shinn of Green Castle, Ind. There are many friends and co-workers that loved Kari and enjoyed her friendship.
Family and friends may gather at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St (U.S. Highway 12) in Edwardsburg on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6. The service of remembrance was Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, 68961 Lake St, Edwardsburg. Officiating was the Rev. Scott Scheel, pastor.
There was a calling time at the church for one hour before the services Tuesday.
Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery.
Kari was a loving and compassionate friend, sister, daughter and mother. She devoted her life to children, both at work helping children and families for DCS, and to her daughter, Chante.
Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with Chante, whether at the frequent volleyball or softball tournaments, or simply texting her in the next room.
