Lucius C. Peterson, 64, of Vandalia, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 23, 2012, at his residence with his loving wife at his side.
He was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Stoneville, Miss., to James, Sr. and Catherine (Bailey) Peterson.
He married Stella Mae McIntosh on Nov. 13, 2011, in Cassopolis. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorraine Dorsey and Irene Dorsey; and one brother, Oscar L. Peterson.
Lucius and his wife loved to do things together, whether going to yard sales, fishing or going to church. They did a lot of traveling and attending family gatherings.
Lucius will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Mae (McIntosh) Peterson of Vandalia; his children, Lucius Kimble and Demetrius Kimble, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Clareese Johnson of Jackson, Miss., John Wilson and Ronnie Wilson, both of Chicago, Emanuel (Catherine) Wilson of Chicago, Dwayne (Trina) Wilson of Harvey, Ill., Belinda Wilson, Michelle Wilson and Akia Peterson, all of Chicago; stepchildren, Stephanie Neal, Raymon Neal, Neppy Neal, James Neal of Vandalia; numerous grandchildren, including a special grandson, Deandre Neal, who stayed by his grandpa’s side; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanette Watkins of Chicago, Williemae Sexton of Dowagiac and Michelle Carr of Dowagiac; three brothers, James Paul (Mary) Peterson of Jones, Robert L. Peterson of Dowagiac and Michael (Victoria) Peterson of Cassopolis; a host of nieces and nephews; and his constant companion, his dog, Holly.
Family and friends will gather from 10 a.m. until time of his Homegoing Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in Church of Cassopolis, 520 Pearl St., Cassopolis, with Apostle Christopher J. Pittman officiating.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis, MI 49031-1004 to help defray final expenses.
