Cops find 57 pot plants in Buchanan residence
Published 3:51pm Friday, July 27, 2012More than 50 live marijuana plants and $500 worth of processed weed was discovered by police Wednesday night in Buchanan.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit along with the Buchanan City Police Department executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at a residence located in the 400 block of West Third Street.
During the execution of this search warrant, the homeowner was not at the residence.
Officers seized 57 live marijuana plants, approximately $500 worth of processed marijuana and other evidence of illegal narcotic activity.
The Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit will be seeking an arrest warrant through the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office and the Berrien County Trial Court for a 35-year-old Buchanan City resident on charges of manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
