Elizabeth Ann “Betty” McIntyre, of Cassopolis, fell asleep peacefully Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012, in her residence, just two weeks after her 88th birthday.
She was born in Niles on May 2, 1924, to Lester and Flora (Moore) Hartman. She married Edward J. “Bob” McIntyre on Nov. 22, 1941, in Cassopolis. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1991. She was also preceded by two daughters, Linda J. Bowman on Nov. 4, 1982, and Sandra Jo Price on Nov. 26, 1985; one son, Michael McIntyre, on April 10, 1987; and her son-in-law, Dale Parsons, on Aug. 15, 2009.
Betty lived in Cass County and was a reading mentor at Cassopolis Public Schools, along with volunteering at the Cass County Library. She worked for 26 years at Edward Lowe Industries as a computer analyst and enjoyed her annual trips with her co-workers. In later years, Betty looked forward to getting together with her friends to play cards. Betty was a member of the Dailey Missionary Church. She adored her children and grandchildren and cherished time spent with them.
Betty will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Parsons, of Cassopolis and Gail (Gary) Landuyt, of South Bend; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Irma (Alvin) Bowman; brother, Don (Mary) Hartman; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends gathered Sunday, May 20, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Funeral services were Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Waid officiating. Mrs. McIntyre will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Edward J. “Bob” McIntyre, in Union Protestant (Dailey) Cemetery, Cassopolis.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Cass County Council on Aging or the Diabetes Association.
