Published 8:02pm Wednesday, May 16, 20121. Valedictorian Ashton Sova is the son of Angela Carrick and Terry Stineback of Edwardsburg. Ashton has maintained a 4.00 grade-point average (GPA) throughout high school. He is a member of the Science Olympiad team and S.A.D.D. Ashton participates in the Varsity Chorale, men’s ensemble Minor Details, school plays and musicals. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Ashton has attained his Eagle Scout rank. He has volunteered in the community through Boy Scouts and Relay for Life. Ashton has also earned the Academic Excellence Award for three years. He plans to attend Michigan State University, where he will major in computer science with the goal of owning a music production studio.
2. Salutatorian Timothy (TJ) Bond is the son of James and Kelly Bond of Edwardsburg. TJ has a 3.993 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiad team, EHS Marching Band, jazz band, pit orchestra for musicals and pep band. TJ has been selected as a District 6 All-Star band member and an Edwardsburg representative at the Lakeland Fine Arts Festival. He has also participated in Michigan’s District and state solo and ensemble competitions receiving Division I ratings. For the past three years, TJ has been a recipient of the Academic Excellence Award. He volunteers his time in a worship band and has been a missionary in Ukraine. TJ will attend Western Michigan University to double-major in music education and composition with a minor in jazz studies. He plans to become a band director and worship leader.
3. Miranda Bronicki is the daughter of Michael and Karla Bronicki of Edwardsburg. Miranda has a 3.992 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Educational Talent Search, 4-H and the 2011-2012 yearbook editor. As a member of the varsity cross-country, varsity track and field and varsity basketball cheerleading teams, Miranda has received several sports awards: MVP for cross-country, MVP and MIP for basketball cheerleading and MIP for track and field. She also volunteers her time at an adult foster care facility. Miranda plans to attend Saint Mary’s College to study psychology and to run cross-country.
4. Kyle Slack is the son of Brian and Kimberly Slack of Edwardsburg. Kyle has a 3.992 GPA. He is the vice president of student council, a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiad team, Educational Talent Search, EHS Marching Band, symphonic band and a student ambassador. Kyle has received the Academic Excellence Award and Scholar Athlete Award for three years. He has also participated in Michigan’s District and state sole and ensemble competition receiving Division I ratings. As a captain of the varsity basketball and varsity baseball teams, Kyle has earned several sports awards: 1st Team All-Conference Baseball (2011), All-District Baseball (2011), All-Regional Baseball (2011), Academic All-District Baseball (2011), MIP for Basketball (2010-2011 and 2011-2012) and 2nd Team All Conference Basketball (2011-2012). He volunteers his time with Special Olympics, Little League baseball and as a summer school mentor. Kyle will attend the University of Toledo to study pre-medicine, with future plans to become a doctor, and to play baseball for the Rockets.
5. Joshua Clark is the son of Timothy and Lynelle Clark of Niles. Joshua has a 3.985 GPA. He is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, senior class treasurer and a member of student council. Joshua is the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award, and has earned the Academic Excellence Award and Scholar Athlete Award for three years. He is a captain of the varsity soccer team, a member of the varsity cross-country and varsity track and field team, where he holds the EHS record at 800 meters (2011). Joshua has earned many sports awards: All-Conference Soccer (2009, 2010, 2011), All-District Soccer (2009), MVP Soccer (2011), All-Conference Cross-Country (2009, 2010, 2011), All-State Cross-Country (2009, 2010), Academic All-State Cross-Country, MVP Cross-Country (2009, 2010), Conference Champion Track 1600 meters (2009, 2010, 2011), Regional Champion Track 1600 meters (2011), All-Conference Track (2009, 2010, 2011), All-State Track (2011), Academic All-State Track and MVP Track (2009, 2010, 2011). He volunteers his time at SMC and as a summer school mentor. Joshua will attend Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., to major in chemical engineering and compete on the cross-country and track teams.
6. Ashley Streb is the daughter of Jerry and Michelle Streb of Edwardsburg. Ashley has a 3.970 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, S.A.D.D. and has been a member of student council. Ashley has received the Academic Excellence Award and Scholar Athlete Award for three years. She is a captain of the varsity basketball team, where she earned All-Conference Honorable Mention (2009-2010 and 2010-2011) and 1st Team All-Conference Basketball (2011-2012). Ashley volunteers her time at the Cass County Animal Shelter and as a student mentor and basketball coach at various camps and leagues. She will attend Beloit College in Wisconsin, where she will double-major in biology and health care with future plans for a career in nutritional health or pharmacy. Ashley will also play basketball for the Buccaneers.
7. Donald Dye is the son of Kenneth and Jacquelyn Dye of Edwardsburg. Donald has a 3.966 GPA. He is president of the National Honor Society and a member of S.A.D.D. Donald has participated in the EHS Marching Band, concert band, pep band and pit orchestra for musicals. He has received the Academic Excellence Award for three years. Donald volunteers his time with the Notre Dame Marching Band, highway cleanup and the Spook-a-thon. He plans to attend the University of Notre Dame and major in pre-professional studies with future plans to become a cardiologist.
8. Ethan Blosser is the son of Rhonda Eaton and Jeffrey Blosser of Edwardsburg. Ethan has a 3.965 GPA. He is a member of the Science Olympiad team and has participated in tennis and track and field. Ethan has received the Academic Excellence Award for three years. He volunteers his time with Habitat for Humanity. Ethan plans to attend Michigan State University, where he will major in engineering.
9. Carl Sporleder is the son of Janet Rudasics and J.C. Sporleder of Edwardsburg. Carl has a 3.958 GPA. He is a member of the Spanish Club and representative for EHS at Young Entrepreneurs Day at the Edward Lowe Foundation. Carl has received the Academic Excellence Award for three years. He volunteers his time at Ducks Unlimited, the St. Joseph River Cleanup and the Izaak Walton League of America. Carl plans to attend the University of Notre Dame and major in civil engineering.
10. Lee Williamson is the son of James and Tami Williamson of Edwardsburg. Lee has a 3.948 GPA. He is senior class president, treasurer of student council, a member of the National Honor Society and S.A.D.D. Lee has received the Academic Excellence Award and Scholar Athlete Award for three years. As a captain of the varsity football team and varsity wrestling team, Lee has earned several sports awards: 1st Team All-Conference Football (2010, 2011), MVP Football (2011), 1st Team All-Conference Wrestling (2010, 2011) and Honorable Mention Academic All-State Football. He volunteers his time with the Leos club and has rebuilt houses in Kentucky during a mission trip. Lee will attend Michigan State University and study pre-medicine with a future goal to work in the sports medical field.
