SMC honors service

The Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees honored three of its staff for service to the college.
Theresa Carlton, Eric Clayborn, and Cathy Feirick each were recognized during the April 16 board meeting for 10 years of service.
Carlton, of Cassopolis, is an information security support specialist in the college’s Computing Services.
She also has been a testing technician, assistant secretary to the dean of academic studies, and a computer support specialist/administrative assistant in computing services.
Carlton has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bethel College and an associate’s degree in general studies with a major in computer programming from SMC. Prior to coming to SMC, Carlton was a senior computer operational specialist and benefits administrator with National Standard Co.
Eric Clayborn, of Niles, is a network specialist at the college. He began as assistant Teaching and Learning Center coordinator and PC technician.
He holds a master’s degree in  business administration, a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, both from Ferris State University, and an associate’s degree in applied science from SMC. He was also a tutor and computer lab assistant at the college.
Cathy Feirick, of Dowagiac, is a switchboard operator at the college, and ,before this position, she was an information center receptionist.
Before coming to SMC, she was the office manager for Agler Chiropractic Clinic and with the Michigan Employment Security Commission.
