Counterpoints performs Thursday

Thursday’s Counterpoints Concert will be a bittersweet performance for Niles High School senior Danny Touhey.

Touhey joined his school’s Counterpoints Club as a sophomore. This will be his final performance with the group.
“It’s hard to believe it’s almost over,” he said.

The Counterpoints Concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Niles High School Auditorium. It will feature student-performed solos, duets, group songs and lots of dancing. Cost is $3 at the door.

Touhey will emcee the concert with senior Anne Tyler. He will also sing “To Make You Feel My Love” by Adele.

“It’s always been one of my favorite songs and it is good for senior year, letting people know that I’m always going to love them,” he said.

Touhey is looking forward to the performing the senior song, “Good Riddance” by Green Day.

“That’s when all the senior’s pictures get put up on a big projector and it is kind of our last time really being together as Counterpoints and singing on the stage,” he said.

Senior Taylor Brandstatter will be singing and dancing in the group. She joined Counterpoints last year.

“Dancing to “Jump” should be a lot of fun. It is like my new favorite song and is a really fun dance,” she said.

Senior Myles Busby, a multisport athlete, joined Counterpoints this year because he wanted to try something new. He won’t be singing any solos or duets, but he’ll be out there singing and dancing in the group performances.

“I have two left feet so it gets tough for me, but I am catching on,” he said.
