Anna Kathryn “Kay” Blatz, 87 years, formerly of Bedford, Ky., died at 12:45 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Riveridge Manor in Niles following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Sulphur, Ky., to Joe Thomas and Anna Lou (Lynch) Louden. She graduated from Henry County (Kentucky) High School, and lived in Bedford until coming to Niles in 2010. She was employed in Bedford area taverns.

Kay was a member of the auxiliaries to the VFW and the DAV in Bedford, and the Bedford chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with folks.

She was first married to Floyd Bauman, and later to Bama Langley, before her marriage to Louie Blatz, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Robinson; a grandson, Scott Seidner; and by brothers, James, Morris and Edward Louden.

Surviving family includes her son, Richard Bauman of Campbellsburg, Ky.; her daughter, Clara (Dave) Singleton of Niles; grandchildren, Lorrie Kinkade, Michelle Cook, Tammy Kennedy, Richard Seidner, Dawn Van Dyke and Robert Seidner; great-grandchildren, Ashley Croucher, Jennifer Sturgis, Trey Horner, Kyle Horner, Jacob Van Dyke, Taya Seidner and Kahlyn Seidner; and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Kay Blatz will be gathering privately for services, and for burial at the Sulphur (Kentucky) Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Kay may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or to a hospice of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
