EDWARDSBURG — Fifty to 60 minors commandeered Eagle Lake Yacht Club on South Shore Drive Feb. 4 for an unlawful drinking party. Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police charged 30 minors with alcohol possession.
Chief Kenneth Wray reports his officers were sent to investigate a parking problem in the area of Eagle Lake Marina.
Upon further investigation, it was found that the parking problem was caused by a rather large gathering at Eagle Lake Yacht Club.
Further investigation showed there were 50 to 60 minors who gained unlawful entry into the yacht club and covered the windows so no light could be seen from outside.
Most of the alcohol was provided by individuals as they arrived at the party. No adults were present.
The minor who held the party is being charged with unlawful entry and other violations, along with an individual who drove through the fence getting away. Information about the party time and location were posted on Facebook, police said. Most of the minors were from the Granger, Ind., area, with a few from South Bend and Mishawaka, Ind. Further charges are pending.
