One of ‘Niles 5’ scheduled for sentencing Monday
Published 6:37pm Friday, November 4, 2011Leon Murphy, one of five Niles teenagers facing criminal charges for involvement in an alleged sex video extortion scandal, is slated for sentencing Monday at the South Berrien County Courthouse in Niles.
Murphy pleaded guilty to the third degree criminal sexual conduct and possession of child pornography but attempted to withdraw his plea in October.
His co-defendant Martise Washington was found guilty on all seven of his charges Thursday. Washington’s attorney, Jim Jesse, told the media that he advised his client to take a plea deal but Washington refused.
