They were married Aug. 4, 1961, in Houston, Texas.
They have two daughters, Leslie (Kelly) Burkett of Decatur and Julie (Shaun) Sweet of Harford; and six grandchildren, Brendan, Erin, Shannon and Sheila Burkett of Decatur, Emily (Aldo) Romero of Portage and Autumn Sweet of Hartford.
Their family is hosting an open house at Calvary Bible Church, 27032 Marcellus Highway, Dowagiac, from 5 to 8 p.m. July 30.
