NILES — The 23rd Annual Niles Triathlon will take place on Saturday, Sept. 4.
This is a long-running, highly successful event which draws people from all over the United States during Labor Day weekend.
There are two events, the Super Sprint Triathlon (200-meter swim, 10K bike and 2.5K run) and the Olympic Triathlon (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run), available.
The Olympic Triathlon will start at 8:30 a.m. and the Sprint Triathlon at 9 a.m.
The swim will take place in Barron Lake, while both the run and bike portions of the triathlon will take place around the lake area.
Entry forms, as well as other information, are available on the web at www.triniles.com. Cost is $55 for the Olympic Triathlon through Aug. 1, $60 by Sept. 2 and $70 race day. Cost for the Sprint is $45 by Aug. 1, $50 by Sept. 2 and $60 on race day. An additional $10 will be charged for those who do not have a USAT number.
Registration packets can be picked up Friday night at the Barron Lake Fire Department from 4 to 7:30 p.m. or on Saturday from 6:30 to 8 a.m.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for noon. The top three overall male and female finishers in both the Olympic and Super Sprint will receive awards. Awards are three deep in each age group category.
New this year will be chip timing. Each registered participant will receive at T-shirt.
