Elizabeth Solloway, 80, of Cassopolis, Mich., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at 1:15 a.m. at the Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, Mich., after an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 16, 1928 in Millersburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lydia (Miller) and Daniel Schrock, Sr.

Elizabeth was a retired cook with the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, and also had worked hard at various area restaurants. She was a member of the Diamond Cove Missionary Church, Cassopolis. She also was a volunteer with the Cass County Council on Aging. She also loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by four daughters, Verda Fletcher, Elkhart, Ind., Delores Solloway and Nina (Jesse) Hanner, both of Cassopolis, and Helen (Paul) Parrish, Jr., Jones, Mich.; three sons, Charles Solloway and James Solloway, both of Cassopolis, and Gene (Luann) Solloway, Mishawauka, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by three sisters, Sara Fisher, Millersburg, Ind., Amanda Christner and Anna Smith, both of Goshen, Ind.; and a brother, Albert Schrock, of North Dakota.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by a son, John Solloway; three grandsons, Brandon Hanner, Dustin Solloway and Joshua Solloway; a sister, Ella Yutzy; and three brothers, Daniel Schrock, Jr., Abe Schrock and Levi Schrock.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, with her pastor, the Rev. Charlie Keller, officiating. Internment will be held in Reames and Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis.

The family received friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
