Two accidents in Cass County reported
Published 8:15am Monday, October 12, 2009CASSOPOLIS – Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4:05 p.m. in Wayne Township, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Glenwood Road and Gage Street in reference to an off-road vehicle (ORV) crash with injuries.
Upon arriving on scene, deputies found Alecsander Campbell, 20, from Gardner, Ill., lying on the side of the road.
Campbell was injured and unresponsive.
It appeared Campbell was southbound on Glenwood and lost control of his ORV at the intersection.
Campbell and the ORV overturned and he was thrown from the ORV.
Campbell was not wearing a helmet.
Campbell was treated by Coloma Ambulance Service and flown from the scene by Life Care. Alcohol was not a factor.
Sheriff Underwood Jr. also reports that on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:33 p.m. in Wayne Township, Cass County, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to Marcellus Highway and McKenzie Street reference a traffic crash with injuries.
When deputies arived they found one subject injuried and laying on the side of the road. Upon further investigation it was determined that the injuried subject was riding his bike with the flow of traffic and was hit from behind by a 2003 Buick being driven by Eugene Romig, 88, from Marcellus.
The bicyclist was identified as Kiefer Hall, 18, from Dowagiac. Hall was transported by Coloma Ambulance to Borgess Lee memorial Hospital in Dowaciac.
Cass County Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Coloma Ambulance Service. Romig was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor.
