Decatur driver dodging deer hits tree in Volinia
Published 8:41am Tuesday, September 29, 2009CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that on Monday, Sept. 28, at 8:51 a.m., his office handled a single-vehicle, personal-injury crash, on Church Street in Volinia Township.
Christian Hutson, 18, of Decatur, was eastbound on Church when a deer ran onto the road in front of him.
Attempting to avoid the deer, he lost control and went off the road into a tree.
He was then transported by family to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
His seatbelt was used.
A lcohol does not appear to be a factor, deputies reported.
