On Sept. 4, 2009, Kenneth Steven Rams, 68, died peacefully in his sleep, in his Houston, Texas, home.

Born in Dowagiac on Nov. 20, 1940, Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Ann Rae Rams, and his father, Steven Frederick Rams.

As a 1959 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School who had already experienced success as a class officer and as a salesman for Tom Dreisbach Chevrolet, Ken’s class voted him the male most likely to succeed.

Subsequently, while attending Western Michigan University as a business major, Ken owned and operated a Dodge dealership on M-40 North in Dowagiac.

After Ken left Dowagiac in the mid-1960s, he continued to experience professional success as a manager in automobile sales and as founder of what became the largest greeting card distributorship in the United States, moving to Houston in 1985 to run that business.

Ken also enjoyed success as a cheerful and supportive friend to all who knew him.
He will be missed by those friends, particularly those in Houston and Dowagiac.

He will also be missed by his loyal companion, Mr. Lucky, a blind Shiatsu Ken adopted in July 2008.

Ken has been laid to rest in the Rams family plot at Riverside Cemetery.

A service of memory, in his honor, will be held on Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. in Christ the Good Shepherd Chapel, Spring, Texas.
