Wilma J. “Willy” Walker, 77, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Lakeland Community Hospital after an illness.

Wilma J. “Willy” Walker, 77, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Brown Funeral Home at noon. A time of visitation will be one hour prior.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Muskegon, to the late Martin and Ruth (Peterson) Bomers.

Wilma graduated from Southwest Michigan College with an associate degree in accounting.

A seamstress most of her life, Wilma also worked for many years as a tax preparer and at Simplicity Pattern.

She was an active member of both Civitan and Niles Association for Exceptional Citizens. Wilma’s passion was spending time, especially bowling, with “her kids” from NAFEC, she considered them her extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Terri Harris and Kathy Engle and a sister, Margaret Bomers.

Wilma is survived by two sons, Michael (Kay) Walker of Niles and Kevin (Heather) Walker of Niles; a daughter, Debra Woods of Cleveland, Tenn., daughters-in-law, Shawnee Flowers and Debbie Walker, both of Niles, a son-in-law, Jim Engle of Ravenna; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Martin (Beverly) Bomers of Spring Lake.
