Edith L. Fitzsimons, 64, of South East Street, Cassopolis, died at her home at 6:01 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, Dowagiac, with the Rev. Leo Taubitz, pastor, officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.
Friends visited on Tuesday evening at the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.

She was born on July 20, 1945, in Berrien Center, to Garland Dillon and Lorraine (Haskins) Dillon.

She was a lifetime southwestern Michigan area resident.

She was a retired benefits coordinator with the County of Cass.

On Oct. 16, 1964, in Cassopolis, she married James C. Fitzsimons.

Surviving family includes two children, Mark Fitzsimons of Niles and Kelly (Rodney) Weldy of Avon, Ind.; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Schlipp and a brother, Allen Dillon.
